The federal scheme takes money off the price before you pay it, so your quote almost certainly has it deducted already — ask for it as its own line. The amount depends on your postcode, the size of the system and the year, and it steps down every January, which is why there is no figure printed on this page that would be wrong by February. The current rules are at the Clean Energy Regulator. VIC may run its own programs on top; your installer deals with them weekly and can tell you which ones you qualify for.

- Insurance. Public liability cover, on file and in date. People are going on your roof and into your switchboard.
